Heritage Animal Task Force, Animal Rights Campaigner, sought action against 'Baahubali' Director & Producer for allegedly using an elephant for shoot without seeking prior permission from the Animal Welfare Board of India.
Animal Rights Activists allege 'Baahubali' Team used Chirackal Kalidasan for the shoot at Thrissur few days ago sans a pre-shooting certificate. Soon after this violation came to light, Thrissur-based Task Force sent a letter to PM Narendra Modi seeking appropriate action against 'Baahubali' Makers & Owner/Mahout of the Elephant.
The Activists accuse 'Baahubali' Makers of forcing the Elephant to stand for four hours and used high beam electric light on it for obtaining the desired output. The Mahout even used the banned weapon 'ankush' during the shoot to make the animal obey his orders. Even the absence of Animal Welfare Officer and the presence of 50-odd crew members, making loud sounds, on the sets is highlighted now. The Mahout compelling the elephant to keep its forehead up is also termed as violation under PCA Act 1960.
