Controversies are not a new thing to ace filmmaker Shankar but they are becoming ugly these days. His differences with producers of 'Indian 2' and shelving the project was one such instance but the latest problem with 'Anniyan' producer Ascar Ravichandran is getting bigger with each passing day.
It is well known that Shankar announcing the Hindi adaptation of his super hit film 'Anniyan' which came in 2005. This project was announced with Ranveer Singh as the lead. As soon as the announcement was done, 'Anniyan' producer Ascar Ravichandran released a press statement claiming that he possesses the rights of 'Anniyan' story and legal charges will be taken on Shankar if the director goes ahead with this project without his consent.
Shankar replied that he owns the story, screenplay and direction credits and there is no truth behind Ravinchandran's accusations. But the producer went to South Indian Chamber Of Commerce and wrote a letter to them. He says that he bought the rights from the original story writer and has all the evidence to prove them.
