Akshay is delivering one flop after another. His 'Bell Bottom' which came out last year did not perform well commercially. 'Atrangi Re' which came out on directly on Hotstar got negative talk. His 'Bachchan Pandey', a remake of 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh', turned out to be a debacle at the box office despite having a star cast including him, Arshad Warsi, Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez. His 'Prithviraj' came out on 3rd June amidst good hype and expectations. It turned out to be a huge disappointment. 'Raksha Bandhan' which came out in August got rejected by the audience and his 'Cutputli' released on Disney + Hotstar too received a negative response.
In order to test his luck once again, he arrived with 'Ram Sethu' on 25th October. The movie is all about saving the 'Ram Sethu' bridge in just three days. The trailer was quite promising and there were decent expectations on the movie. It was released along with Ajay Devgn and Siddharth Malhotra's 'Thank God' which got a negative response from the audience. While the collections on the first day of 'Ram Sethu' were decent, it got a mixed response.
While the audience liked the movie, the critics did not give a good rating. This adventure drama had a lot of action sequences that impressed many but the screenplay was a letdown according to others. While the collections on the first day were good, it reduced by 25% on its second day. It earned only 11 crores on Day 2 and it got 26 crores collectively. Considering the business it did, there is still a long way to go and the drop in collections is worrying the makers. We need to wait and see if it enters the safe zone or ends up as another flop movie for Akshay Kumar.
Jacqueline Fernandez is one of the leads while Nusshrat Bharraucha was seen as Akshay's wife. Satyadev played a very prominent role in this movie. Written and directed by Abhishek Sharma, this movie is produced by Arun Bhatia, Vikram Malhotra, Subaskaran, Mahaveer Jain, Aashish Singh and Prime Video.
