The theatre owners in Andhra Pradesh who are still fighting against the movie ticket prices issue had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Contrary to what was expected by the theatre managements, the High Court had shocked them while hearing the petition.
Raising objections over the GO that was brought by the state government to enable the online sale of the tickets, the multiplex association had knocked on the doors of the High Court. Little do they know that they are about to face a big setback.
During the hearing, the High Court asked why the association has objections and the tax evasion will be reduced by the module and this also brings transparency. The arguments made by the lawyers representing the multiplex association did not satisfy the Court.
Lawyers representing the association said that the online sale of tickets will hinder their rights and also said that a major share of moviegoers and audience doesn't know how to make use of the online booking option.
The High Court also issued notices to the Andhra Pradesh Home Secretary, Law Secretary, and the AP State Film Television, Theatres Development Corporation (APSFTVTDC) to come up with their response on the issue.
