AR Rahman conferred with Fukuoka prize

Legendary music composer and Oscar winner AR Rehman has won another prestigious international level award. He was awarded with Japan's Fukuoka prize for 2016. The award was given for his outstanding contribution to music industry and showcasing South Asian traditional fusion music. The award was a mix of three prizes. Grand Prize, Academic Prize, and Arts and Culture Prize.

Ramchandra Guha, a noted historian  was conferred with Fukuoka Prize in academic category last year. This year Rahman  name has been chosen for the honour. Names of Philippines' historian Ameth R Ocampo and Yasmeen Lari from Pakistan  were chosen for Academic Prize and Arts and Culture Prize respectively  by the Fukuoka prize committee. Fukuoka prize honor the outstanding work of individuals or organizations in preserving or creating Asian culture.

Rahman will soon receive the award and he will  to a public lecture on "From the Heart: The World of A R Rahman's Music". Apart from Oscar  Rahman has garnered four National Film Awards, 15 Filmfare Awards and 14 Filmfare Awards South, a record for an Indian composer. All his  fans are celebrating this great news
