In the past few months, a couple of huge pan-Indian projects created a storm at the box office. Due to their high budgets, the governments agreed to the requests of the producers and allowed them to raise the ticket rates for the initial four or five days. Though the burden was too heavy on the audience, they were ready to watch visual spectacles like 'RRR' and 'KGF â 2' on the big screens.
But regular commercial movies of star heroes too started keeping the same kind of high prices. With a single ticket costing over 400 including the taxes, a common man has become hesitant to go to the theatre with his/her family. Due to this, a lot of family audiences are staying away from big screens and are waiting for the film to arrive on OTT platforms.
Star producer Dil Raju recognized this and stated that his upcoming release 'F3' won't be increasing ticket prices and they will be selling tickets at the rates issued by the government. This film is releasing on 27th May and the makers have based their promotions around the normal ticket rates.
But the reality is quite different from what the team are promoting. The ticket rate in a multiplex is 295 and it is crossing Rs. 320 with the inclusion of taxes. How is this an affordable ticket rate? Even the single screen tickets are being sold at 175 rupees which is too much according to many. People are questioning how the producers expect to watch the movie in theatres if they quote such huge rates.
The movie lovers are claiming that there is not a lot of truth in Dil Raju's announcement of selling tickets for normal rates as the prizes are high anyway. There is a huge risk of people ignoring theatres in the coming days which leads to the business going drastically. We need to wait and see if Tollywood realizes this risk and avoids it or not.
'F3' is a hilarious comedy entertainer which is directed by Anil Ravipudi and produced by Shirish. Dil Raju is presenting the film while Victory Venkatesh and Varun Tej are the lead actors. There are many top comedians and character artists in this movie. Pooja Hegde will be seen in a special song while Tamannaah and Mehreen are the heroines.
