At the time when he is so successful in delivering back-to-back hits, Nani turned Producer with 'AWE'. Posters & Promos gave an impression it's not going to be a kind of film we are used to watching. This concept-based flick which is carrying good expectations released Today. Let's see how different it is...
Synopsis:
A Youth who becomes Chef without knowing how to cook, A Magician who think he is the best in his field, A Girl who got addicted to Drugs, A Person who is striving hard to create a Time Machine, A Strange Couple who wish to get married meet at one spot. Their lives take a drastic turn at one point. What is it all about? Watch 'AWE' in your nearest theatres to know it!
Performances:
Casting is always important for concept-based films. Team AWE does this part perfectly by bringing some of the finest actors onboard. All the Artistes have done complete justice to their roles. But, It's Nithya Menon, Regina and Priyadarsi who stole the show. Though her role is so crucial, Kajal doesn't get the scope to leave a lasting impact. Srinivas Avasarala, Murali Sharma and Devadarshini have done a good job. Scenes involving Murali Sharma irritate a bit.
Pros:
Unique Story & Screenplay
Casting
Technical Finesse
Cons:
Scenes involving Murali Sharma
Limited Appeal
Technicalities:
'AWE' is technically sound. Background Score of Mark A.Robin & Camera Work by Karthik Ghattamaneni are marvelous. Art Work & Editing are simply superb. Special Mention for unique styling offered to each one of the main characters. Production Values are beyond the expectations. The thoughts of Prasanth Varma are unique. He choose a never-before-attempted concept & presented it in a different manner. The screenplay is quite different from any of the Telugu films released till date. He made the movie in an uncompromising manner & left a mark of his own as writer/director. 'AWE' could have been appealed to a larger section of people had if he worked on the story & screenplay keeping the common audience in mind.
Analysis:
In the 'AWE!', Kajal Agarwal's Character issues a Jewellery Brand Ad with the caption 'Meeloni Vibhinna Mahilala Kosam'. Post the screening, One gets the doubt Director Prasanth Varma might have developed the story based on this caption. There will be different phases in every person's life & individuals would react to them depending on his/her maturity levels. Upon overcoming all these phases, You end up realizing there are different kinds of people within ourselves. That's the core point in the movie'.
Story penned by Prasanth Varma is beyond anyone's imagination. Hero Nani took the risk of producing such an out-of-the-box movie. 'AWE' is for those who crave for path-breaking films. Most of the audience might get the doubt what does the makers wish to convey.
'AWE' reminds us of films such as 'Chandamama Kathalu' and 'Manamantha' to some extent yet it is very unique & shocks the viewers. It's near impossible to guess what happens next in the movie. The way few Characters were etched makes the proceedings very interesting. Voice-over of Raviteja (Tree) and Nani (Fish) add fun element to this serious subject. They not only entertain thoroughly but also offers a good message on nature & animals. In addition, Sexual Harassment, Mental Condition of Homosexuals and the side effects of Ego has been covered. On the flip side, Other Characters failed to entertain as much as these two.
The million dollar question would be how many people would embrace the freshness & innovative narration of 'AWE'. Audience might end up questioning themselves what kind of film is it after watching climax. A Filmmaker need to keep in mind whether the new concept chosen by him would reach out to a larger section of people or not. 'AWE' might have a limited appeal because a section of movie buffs might find it wonderful but a large section of people can't connect with it.
Bottom Line: AWE - A Unique Attempt!
