Performances:

In one way, 'Babu Bangaram' is a feast for Daggubati Fans. A lot of care has been taken on Venky's styling and he appears in the manner in which fans love to watch. Particularly, His screen presence is very impressive. Venkatesh tried his best to entertain but didn't succeed much.

Nayantara neither impressed with glamour nor performance. Frankly, There is nothing much for her to showcase her acting skills.

Pruthvi & Posani tickled the funny bone. Brahmanandam fails. Sampath and Jayaprakash were alright. Vennela Kishore & Giri entertain to some extent.

Pros:

Venkatesh's Screen Presence

Pruthvi's Comedy

Music

Cons:

Screenplay

Direction

Technicalities:

Songs composed by Ghibran were pretty good. Even Background Score is decent enough. The theme music used for Hero's role reminds us of RGV Films. Richard Prasad's Camera Work is so pleasant. Production Values are good. 'Babu Bangaram' is the weakest film in Maruthi's career both as a Writer & Director. Story is predictable. The Director failed to provide necessary entertainment to make it look even worse. Of course, Fans will love few sequences of Venky thoroughly and Credit goes to Maruthi for it. But, Such scenes were very less in number to bail out this movie from becoming a dud.

Analysis:

Most of the Young Directors prefer re-cycling of Old Subject rather than experiment with New Concepts. Even Maruthi is no different. Remember, 'Nirnayam' starring Nag & Amala. 'Babu Bangaram' is similar to this 90s flick in many ways.

The episodes which were meant to be funny doesn't invoke laughter. Although Pruthvi & Posani does their bit, Comedy that audience expect from a Hero like Venkatesh is missing. Surprisingly, Maruthi failed to generate humor after penning a unique characterization to Venky. Pruthvi carries the entire First Half on his shoulders. Had if Venky's Role was equally entertaining, The end result would have been a lot different. Maruthi didn't handle the pre-Interval sequence where Nayan comes to know about the identity of Venky properly. One must say 'Babu Bangaram' is pretty bad remake of 'Nirnayam'.

Predictability is the biggest drawback of 'Babu Bangaram'. Neither Story nor Screenplay keeps the audience hooked to the screens. Inconsistency in narration works against the movie. Heroism in the Second Half will impress the Mass Audience to some extent. Comedy Track of Brahmanandam looks forced. Posani brings the much needed comic relief in the Second Half. 'Bobbili Raja' touch in the end is the high point of the movie.

'Babu Bangaram' is boring to say the least. Had if comedy blocks were entertaining, Viewers would have stepped out of theaters with a smile on their faces. While Fans would love Venky's look & Bobbili Raja touch, Common Audience will enjoy Pruthvi's punchlines in the First Half. Don't expect anything more!

Bottom Line:
Could Have Been Lot Better!
