The use of certain words in the film  had irked the members of dalit rights outfit and the  Tamil Puli organisation attacked Madurai theatre which is screening Baahubali and hurled petrol bombs.

The outfit opposed to the use of the word 'pagadai' in the film. A crucial character in the movie had used this word which means Sakkiliayar people (a sub-caste of dalit). The film dialogue writer Madan  Karki responded on the matter and the writer has issued a statement and apologized for it. Madan said that he was not aware about the word and added that he did not mean to insult them in any ways.

" I came to know through media sources that a word present in the dialogue of the movie 'Bahubali' hurt the sentiments of a few and that, this has led them to acts of violence. I didn't know that it was a name of a community. We even have few scenes in the movie in which the hero stand against casteism. Our intention is not to speak ill of anyone. The word will be removed from the movie soon. I'm sorry if anyone has been hurt " says Madhan Karky
