Director's effigy burnt For Taking Cinematic Liberty

Bajirao Mastani is one of the most awaited film for this season and on its verge of its release this week, on December 18. However, the film is now turned as centre of controversy over its subject. The film was based on historical concept and it narrates the story of the Maratha warrior Peshwa (Prime Minister) Bajirao I of the Maratha Empire and his second wife Mastani. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone portray the titular protagonists, and Priyanka Chopra plays Bajirao's first wife Kashibai

Seems the descendants of the dynasties which ruled Maharashtra aren't happy with the trailers and promotional material of the film. According to reports the descendants of Peshwa and Chhatrasal dynasty had organized a protest against director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

They even burnt an effigy of the director in Shaniwarwada in Pune.According to reports, the protesters had gathered at Shaniwarwada, the ancestral capital of the Peshwa to condemn the promotional videos and songs of the movie. The protest was led by Undaysinh Peshwa, descendant of Chhatrasal

They alleged that Bhansali has distorted the historical facts and taken cinematic liberties. They have requested  the concerned people to remove these trailers and the objectionable content from the movie, which is not according to the history.
