Bollywood revolts against Censor Board

After Censor Board suggested 89 cuts for 'Udta Punjab', Actors, Filmmakers and Producers got united to condemn the way Freedom of Expression has been curtailed. A press conference has been organized Today for waging a war aging CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani.

'Udta Punjab' Producer Anurag Kashyap declares: 'Audience should have the right to accept or reject a film. I don't want to go through the humiliation of speaking to Pahlaj Nihalani on the censor issue'.  

Producer Mukesh Bhatt: 'Pahlaj Nihalani don't deserve to be the chief of Censor Board. Pre-Censorship is dangerous'.

Director Imtiaz Ali of 'Jab We Met' and 'Rockstar' fame said: 'Anything that doesn't allow Freedom of Expression is annoying. There is no necessity to tolerate it! The content of a movie can be judged only after its release'.

CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani claimed numerous cuts were suggested as Shahid Kapoor's character in 'Udta Punjab' speaks abusive language throughout the coarse of the movie irrespective of whether he has taken drugs or when he normal. On the other hand, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweets Pahlaj Nihalani stalled the release of 'Udta Punjab' after receiving clear instructions from BJP.
