The situation of Hindi films has been quite bad from the past two years. The theatre business was affected badly due to the pandemic and the audience too are thinking twice before watching the movies on big screens. But the same North audience watched big scale pan-Indian movies from the South and gave them immense collections. Bollywood heroes are not able to get hits and their films are ending up as huge commercial failures. Many movies like 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar', '83', 'Runway 34', 'Bachchan Pandey', 'Prithviraj', 'Bell Bottom', 'Radhe' and others ended up as huge disasters.
The bad run of Hindi films at the box office continued last week too. A plethora of movies came out but none of them has set the cash registers ringing at the box office. Aditya Roy Kapoor's 'OM' flopped big time and Madhavan's 'Rocketry' may end up as a commercial failure. Despite decent reviews, these movies were not able to attract an audience and the footfalls in theatres were too low.
Barring Karthik Aryan's 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', none of the recent Bollywood movies turned out to be successful at the box office. Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani's family entertainer 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' ended up as an average entertainer by minting over 70 crores at the box office. Let us wait and see if any of the upcoming films from big stars turn out to be super hits and bring back Bollywood's lost glory.
