Director Boyapati Srinu is under tremendous pressure. After churning out an average fare 'Jaya Janaki Nayaka,' he needs a hit. His next with Cherry, which is currently under shoot, has to become a hit. Another reason for the pressure is that Cherry's last outing Rangasthalam, directed by Sukumar, is a runaway hit. It shattered records and won accolades for the actors and technicians alike.
Boyapati reportedly assured Cherry that their project will shatter all the records notched up by Rangasthalam. But, Rangasthalam has many positives. The ensemble cast, the unique storyline , the story telling, DSP's music numbers and several other factors contributed to Rangasthalam's blockbuster success. Rangasthalam has a rustic rural backdrop and had a period touch to it. Boyapati's project does not have all these positives. As of now there is nothing that could be claimed as Boyapati-Cherry project's USP. The only thing that is going in their favour, according to film buffs, is that the film will release during the Sankranthi season. Will Boyapati turn it around, give a new spin and make the film a blockbuster? Let's wait and see.
