The early Indian Cinema did not really grow into an Industry until mid-1960's and hence, the stars of different languages cannot be termed as Pan India stars. Rajesh Khanna is termed as First Superstar in Hindi Cinema as he delivered nine back to back blockbusters.
But Amitabh Bachchan took the stardom to next level as his films like Deewar, Sholay, Laawaris, Don, Zanjeer have played for hundred days in remote non-Hindi dominated centres also. Vijayawada, Rajamundry kind of centres saw consistent releases and successes for Amitabh in 1970's.
Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan grew to that level in 1980's and 1990's. Kamal particularly acted in all popular languages and even scored Blockbusters in each language. But an unanimous hit like Baahubali or KGF has been missing for him.
Rajnikanth became huge in 1990's with Basha and he took it all a notch higher up with Shivaji, Enthiran/Robo films. In 2010's, he did not find directors who can handle his stardom and hence, we did not see Blockbusters that really show his market strength.
Prabhas emerged as Pan India star with Baahubali films and SS Rajamouli proved his strength with RRR. Ram Charan and Jr. NTR now have great potential to build on RRR success nation wide.
Yash after becoming Rocky Bhai with KGF series will look to deliver even bigger cinema from Kannada for sure.
It is now Allu Arjun who has to use the potential of Pushpa Raj character and deliver a memorable film with second part of Pushpa. We hope he will.
