The much-awaited and much-hyped Sankranti season is here and all the big films are gearing up to hit the screens and entertain us. Rajnikanth is the first to arrive with 'Darbar' on January 9th. Mahesh is coming on 11th with 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' followed by Allu Arjun's 'Ala Vaikunthapuramlo' on 12th Jan. Finally, Kalyan Ram will be coming on 15th with 'Entha Manchivaadavura'. Looks like we are all in for a big treat this festive season.
But the main problem is that all these films have big runtimes which may prove costly if any film gets negative talk. 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' has a runtime of 169 minutes which is very lengthy in current times. 'Ala Vaikunthapuramlo' is four minutes less than Mahesh's film but two hours forty-five minutes is a long time too. 'Darbar' has a runtime of 159 minutes which is slightly better. Kalyan Ram's film is the only one which is coming with a short duration of just 142 minutes but there is no buzz over that film.
Having such long durations not only tests the patience of the audience but also makes it hard for the distributors to arrange more shows in one day. Let us hope that they can surpass this runtime hindrance and become successful at the box-office.
