Centre Increases Theatre Occupancy, Opens Swimming Pools

We are aware that Cinema halls across the country are operating with 50% occupancy. The Central government on Wednesday allowed the Cinema halls and theatres to operate with higher occupancy, as a part of its revised coronavirus guidelines.

The big screens were allowed to reopen in October last year, at half their capacity. The fresh pandemic reopening guidelines will be effective from February 1. The updated SOPs that have been issued amid a steady drop in daily Covid cases in India.

"Cinema halls and theatres have already been permitted up to 50% of seating capacity. Now they will be permitted to operate at higher seating capacity, for which a revised SOP will be issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in consultation with MHA," Centre said in a release.

Along with Cinema halls, swimming pools are also allowed to everyone. The pools had reopened for sportspersons last year and now the centre has permitted everyone to use them.

As per the release, "Now swimming pools will be permitted for use of all, for which a revised SOP will be issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYA&S) in consultation with MHA."
