Senior Stars: Megastar Still Rules!

Update: 2019-09-13 10:49 GMT
In the 80s and 90s, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh used to be the four pillars of Telugu Film Industry. There used to be a healthy competition between Chiru and Balayya for Box Office records. Mostly, Megastar had the upper hand. The hawa of Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, NTR, Ram Charan, Prabhas and Allu Arjun began only in the past 15 to 20 years.

Among the Senior Stars, Only Megastar is able to compete with Younger Stars. Chiru made a re-entry with 'Khaidi No.150' and got hold of Non-Baahubali record with a share of over Rs 100 crore. Balakrishna is able to deliver hits once in few years and managed to enter Rs 50 crore club with 'Gautamiputra Satakarni'. Prestigious NTR Biopic failed to garner the appreciation of Telugu People. Nagarjuna couldn't deliver a solid hit after 'Soggade Chinni Nayana'. Although  'F2' was a huge hit, It can't be treated as Venkatesh's solo achievement. Market of Venky's film is just around Rs 20 crore.

Producers are hesitating to invest even Rs 50 crore on any of the Senior Heroes but there are many Individuals who are willing to spend Rs 100 to 150 crore on Chiru's Film. No other Senior Hero is anywhere close to Megastar when it comes to the market or business, whatever you might call it. Chiranjeevi is competing directly with the top stars of this generation. Pre-Release Business of 'Sye Raa' silenced the critics and stunned the trade pundits. That is why he is known as Megastar!
