Is Sye Raa An Historical Fiction Drama?

Update: 2018-09-03 07:42 GMT
A movie is all about letting audience believe in what they see on-screen and involve them in it so much that the impact lasts with them. Movies are judged by that scale by audience and critics alike.

Some movies come up with social dramas, some come up with commercial entertainment, some try masala, some serve glamour, sex subjects and some try out biopics and movies on historical events.

For creating that lasting impact, makers tend to present the story as dramatically as they can and hence, few fictional elements are added to original story.

Gautamiputra Satakarni is said to be Historical Fiction but not history when makers claimed it is. Baahubali is a complete fiction.

Makers of Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu never claimed them to be authentic biopics and clearly stated that they are devotional movies based on true events in history.

So, in what category will Sye Raa fit in? A dramatised biopic like Seetharama Raju, Mahanati? A complete fiction drama like Baahubali? A fiction movie based on true events like Sri Ramadasu, Annamayya? Or an historical fiction like Gautamiputra Satakarni?

The difference between these movies and genres lies in the presentation of the makers, that is, get ups of the artists, situations, action style and created environment.

You can make a Baahubali like film with Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy story by adding fiction to it, which makes it an historical fiction that is telling an historical event with imaginative visuals, which are not true.

You can make an Annamayya or Ramadasu by deviating from the original events to tell your story with the characters, which makes it a fiction based on true events. You can also dramatise the events and make Biopic like Mahanati, where authenticity is a must.

But the visuals or getups of artists make us believe it is going more in the direction of Gautamiputra Satakarni than others! Let's wait till the movie releases to decide on film's category.
