Kala Hits Ram-Ravan controversy

Rajinikanth's latest film Kala opened to mixed reviews. Though it is being said that Kala is better than Kabali, several fans are slamming the film as being unsuitable for Rajini's star status. Unfortunately one controversy after another is dogging the film. Firstly, there was stiff opposition to the release of the film in Karnataka in view of Rajini's adverse comments on the contentious Kaveri issue. Then came another controversy where Mumbai journalist Jawahar has approached the court claiming that the story story was a lift from his father's life.

There is another controversy blooming! The climax of the film shows villain Nana Patekar as Ram and hero Rajini as Ravana. Many devotees find this demeaning and insulting to Hindu religious beliefs. Also, there are some scenes where Lord Vinayaka is demeaned. All these are making the Hindutwa organizations see red. These organizations are now preparing to launch a massive agitation against the film and its producers.

Interestingly, demeaning Hindu Gods is common in Tamil Nadu and the Tamil film industry. Even Karunanidhi did it while he was a film script writer. So, Hindu organizations feel enough is enough and that there should be an end to this insult to Hinduism.
