Animal rights advocacy group PETA(People for Ethical Thinking of Animals) is now at the receiving end as all the Tamilians are united against the banning of Jalli Kattu game.  It is known that The Supreme Court banned Jalli Kattu in Tamil Nadu due to the petition filed by PETA.  In a recent development Tamil hero Dhanush said he was not part of PETA and he considers PETA award conferred to him in 2012 is an insult. PETA has chosen Dhanush for for 'Hottest Vegetarian Award' in 2012.

He categorically distanced himself from PETA saying that neiter he nor any of his family members were part of PETA and asked people not to believe rumors that he is part of PETA.  On the other hand, he urged the Central Government make an ordinance to allow Jalli Kattu game in Tamil Nadu,  He requested them to remove bulls from the 'performing animals' category.

Jalli Kattu protests are still continuing across Tamil Nadu and most of the Kollywood celebrities pledging their support to the game. It is interesting to note that the Jalli Kattu issue became so burning that Telugu stars like Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan also responded on the issue through twitter.
