Ramrn Charan has been facing criticism for relying mostly on routine rncommercial entertainers. In addition, The failure of 'Bruce Lee' has rnonly forced him to come out of his comfort zone. That's when he picked rnup the Telugu remake of critically acclaimed and commercially successfulrn 'Thani Oruvan'. Will his judgement be proven right Today?

Synopsis:

Dhruvarn (Ram Charan), an upright IPS Officer, who's sole agenda is to wipe out rncrime. Even while undergoing the IPS training, He nabs few criminals rnwith the help of his Colleagues. But, Those criminals walk out from rnprison after sometime and continue walking in the same path. So, Dhruva rnfocuses on the Man called Siddharth Abhimanyu (Arvind Swamy) who is rnbehind all of those crimes rather than going after goons. The rest of rnthe story is about how a Scientist & recipient of Padma Shree award rnhas become a threat to the society & what has Dhruva done to remove rnhis mask!

Performances:

'Dhruva'rn will remain as a very special movie in Ram Charan's career. The way he rnmoulded himself for the role of IPS Officer is pretty impressive and thern hardwork put in by him is visible on screen. Serious scenes are a cake rnwalk for Charan and that's been proven yet again. He excelled in action rnsequences once again.

Arvind Swamy leaves a lasting impression onrn the minds of people. He is simply superb in the movie. Be it his rncharming looks, costumes, body language and performance, This 90s rnRomantic Hero is exceptional.

Rakul Preet Singh does well in the rnrole of Ishika. 'Pareshanu Ra..' is a visual feast for eyes. However, rnSome of her scenes as IPS Trainee look quite unusual.

Navdeep scores brownie points. Posani tickles the funny bone. Nasser and Shayaji Shinde does justice to their roles.

Pros:

Ram Charan's Makeover

Arvind Swamy's All Round Show

Mind Game

Technical Finesse

Cons:

Lacks Mass Appeal

Technicalities:

Songsrn composed by Hiphop Tamizha are decent enough. Especially, Title Song rnstands out. It's his Background Score which stood as an asset to rn'Dhruva'. Camera Work by PS Vinod is splendid. Visuals look much better rnthan Tamil version. Dialogues by Vema Reddy are crisp. Production Valuesrn are on par with the standards set by Geetha Arts. Surender Reddy only rnmade slight changes to the original as he wishes to create the same rnimpact by retaining the soul. Compared to 'Thani Oruvan', 'Dhruva' is rnmuch more stylishly shot and have a superb quality. The whole team rndeserves credit for it.

Analysis:

Wern are used to watching Commercial Potboilers in which Protagonist always rnholds an upper hand over the Antagonist. That's why 'Dhruva' holds a rnspecial place. A strong Villain could elevate Heroism to a whole rndifferent level and it's been proven yet again with this movie. Superb rncharacterizations of Hero & Villain, Brilliant Story and Taut rnScreenplay are the highlights of 'Dhruva'.

Although the Run Time rnexceeds 150 minutes, Surender Reddy made sure there isn't even a single rnunnecessary scene and delivered a good action thriller. This Ram rnCharan-starrer is better than 'Thani Oruvan' in terms of style quotient rnand quality yet does complete justice to the original.

'Dhruva' rnis a film which revolves around the character of Siddharth Abhimanyu. rnThat's the special element here! The way villain's character was rndesigned and the portrayal of Arvind Swamy as a white-collar criminal rnwere simply marvelous.  Even good importance is being given to role of rnGowtham played by Navdeep. Makers didn't try to include unnecessary rnbuild-ups to Hero just for the sake of Fans.

Mind Game of Hero rn& Villain has been designed so well. Sequence where Villain holds anrn upper hand over Hero is a major highlight in 'Dhruva'. It's a rnhigh-point during the Interval Bang. In the Second Half, Villain keeps rnchallenging Hero's intelligence. The love proposal sequence of Lead Pairrn hits the right chord with the audience. But, One must say Second Half rnisn't as crisp as First Half and that lowers the impact a bit. It's too rnearly to say how Mass Audience will receive the Climax sans any fight. rnEven the narration of 'Dhruva' is very different from regular commercialrn entertainers. Though it have an intelligent screenplay, Logic goes for arn toss in few sequences. Overall, 'Dhruva' is a must watch film for rnaudience who enjoy thrillers and unique subjects.

Bottom Line: Intelligent Action Thriller!
