Did Disney+ Hotstar really offer Rs 100 crores for OTT rights of Vikram?
For the past couple of days, there have been rumors that OTT giant Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the post theatrical digital streaming rights of senior hero Kamal Haasan's forthcoming biggie - Vikram.
It is reported that Disney+ Hotstar shelled out as much as Rs 112 crores for the post theatrical digital streaming rights of Vikram (all languages).
But the big question is - did Disney+ Hotstar really offer Rs 100 crores for OTT rights of Vikram? Well, Vikram might be a popular film in the Tamil film circuit but it doesn't have much hype in the Telugu circuit.
In fact, many Telugu people don't even know that there is a film titled Vikram and it marks the coming together of Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil.
So, why would Disney+ Hotstar offer a whopping Rs 112 crores for a film that doesn't even have a market in the vast Telugu market. Will the Tamil market alone cost over Rs 100 crores? This seems like a bit of a far fetch.
Either way, Vikram is carrying good buzz in the Tamil circuit. The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj who previously directed Thalapthy Vijay's Beast.
