Indiaâs top-notch director Shankar started 'Indian 2' after finishing '2.0'. Kamal Hassan was impressed by the storyline of this sequel and there were humongous expectations on this film. The first look posters were great and many expected Shankar to get back into success track with this as it was claimed to be his dream project.
Kamal Hassan who reduced his speed lately decided to do this film which involves heavy makeup and strenuous hours. But fate didnât favor this film as it had multiple delays due to Kamal's political commitments, makeup issues and the unfortunate accident which happened on the film's set that led to the passing away of few assistant directors.
Just when things were about to start again, the lockdown was implemented which led to a huge break. Post lockdown, all the films started rolling again but not 'Indian 2'. The film was estimated to be made on a budget of 230 crores and Lyca Productions claimed that 160 crores were already spent. They went to court against Shankar for announcing a project with Ram Charan. But the court's decision was not in their favour as Shankar warned the production house to move on with other projects if the film doesn't go on floors soon. But the production house couldn't restart it in time which made Shankar to accept films with Ranveer Singh and Ram Charan. On the other hand, Kamal Hassan started 'Vikram' with Lokesh Kanagaraj.
This all started when Lyca Productions failed to give enough compensation to the families of the film's crew who died in the accident. Shankar was unhappy about it and differences cropped up between them. But it is unfortunate to see such a huge project getting shelved.
