96 is the successful Tamil film that released at the box-office last year. The film went on to become a big hit at the box-office by creating new records. Prem Kumar is the director of this romantic drama starring Vijay Setupathi and Trisha Krishnan in the leads.

Amidst huge hype and buzz, the producer Dil Raju grabbed the remake rights of the movie to make it in Telugu with Sharwanand and Samantha as the lead pair. The official announcement on the same was made long back but it seems that there is a cold war that took place between Dil Raju and the film's director Prem Kumar who came on board to direct the Telugu version as well.

Prem Kumar asked for Govind Vasantha Kumar to compose the music for the Telugu version but Dil Raju suggested a native music composer. Prem Kumar was firm on his choice and so was Dil Raju. But, the director finally convinced Dil Raju that Govind will be apt for a story like this as he already traveled with the whole process once.

Dil Raju too seemed okay with the points that the director made and ended the cold war which resulted in the progress in film's pre-production work.
