Is Dil Raju Not Watching Films?

Update: 2018-01-17 19:01 GMT
Dil Raju became a star producer but he never left film distribution.  Even though he is producing multiple films without gap.. he is continuing film distribution simultaneously.  Dil Raju produced half a dozen films under his banner in 2017 and most of his production ventures were successful.  When it comes to the films he distributed, some of them turned out to be bitter experiences.  'Spyder'.. 'Om Namo Venkatesaya' turned out to be huge disasters and he couldn't recover even half of the investment from these films.  He incurred losses with 'Jai Lava Kusa' and few other films as well.

Talking about the loses in distribution a few months ago, he said that he looks after each and everything regarding his own films but he will not have complete control over the films he is distributing.  He said that he will be more careful in distribution in 2018.  But he got a big blow from 'Agnyaathavaasi' as a distributor at the start of this year.  He is going to incur huge losses for 'Agnyaathavaasi', the highest in his career.  He bought the rights for Rs.27 crores but the movie has recovered Rs. 10 crores till now. He may recover two-three crores at the maximum now.  The overall loss will be around Rs. 14-15 crores.  This will be a huge blow to Dil Raju.

Usually, most of the distributors will incur losses by betting huge on the combination craze. Unlike others, Raju is not just a distributor but he is a top producer and he is known for his judgemental skills.  It is pretty clear that he bought the rights of 'Spyder'.. 'Agnyaathavaasi' just going by the combination craze and nothing else.  Considering the stature of Dil Raju, he can watch any film even before taking the distribution rights.  But he is not doing it and it is clearly evident by the films he distributed.

Whatever be the case he is going by the combination craze and estimating the market dynamics and investing huge on films.. and he is finally incurring huge losses.   Going by the present situation, Raju may not bet high on biggies in near future.
