Even though we agree Filmmaking is different from Gambling we are not asking this question. Director Alphonse Puthiren, who made a film like Premam, in Malayalam, that became a huge success put forward this question on social media and urged Superstars like Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth to react on the issue of GST.
He posted, "In GST slabs, Filmmaking is placed in the category where Gambling is also present. Are Filmmaking and Gambling same? I'm sure that making a film over months and years cannot be equated to opening a deck of cards. Can getting flush be equated to a light man's work? Is imagining a beautiful scene equal to throwing a dice? How come casino business is equal to making a beautiful film?"
He then urged Superstars like Kamal and Rajnikanth to talk to Indian Prime Minister and rectify the goof up in the tax slab. He posted, "I ask stars like Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth to take an initiative to talk to Prime Minister of our country and correct the bill. Filmmaking is a dream and sweat of many people involved and it cannot be equated to one night's ecstacy!" Well, the director has a point, don't you feel so?
