Entire Tollywood Looking At Love Story Now

Update: 2021-09-22 02:41 GMT
As we had reported earlier, the entire Tollywood has been closely monitoring Love Story, a love drama starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in the lead role. The light hearted love drama is directed by Sekhar Kammula who enjoys a strong following amongst the family audiences. Tollywood is hoping that the Sekhar Kammula directorial will be the catalyst the industry, as a whole, has been looking forward to and pull the family audiences to the theatres in big numbers. The stakes are exceptionally high on Love Story and the film is carrying humongous expectations.

Now, Tollywood is pinning high hopes on Love Story for another reason. Wonder why? Here is the reason. Going into the story, Gopichand's recent outing Seetimaarr got off to a flying start at the box office. However, in the full run, the film turned out to be a flop at the box office. All the opening weekend frenzy at the box office fizzed out in the weekdays and the film put up abysmal numbers at the box office in the subsequent week. It ultimately ended up as a dud at the box office. This shows that only a section of the Telugu audiences are ready to come out to watch films in theatres. The family audiences are staying away from theatres. Now, the onus is on Love Story to change the scenario and pull the families to the theatres.

Love Story will certainly be registering good openings, given the sky high buzz it has mounted. But the real question is, can the film go on to put up good numbers at the box office in the weekdays as well? Can the film collect over Rs 30 crores share at the box office in its full run? For that to happen, family audience should lap up the Sekhar Kammula directorial. No other Telugu film that has released after the Covid 2nd wave has come even remotely close to Rs 15 crores mark, let alone the Rs 30 crores mark. So, Love Stroy will  have to do something no other Telugu film has done post the Covid second wave. And if the film actually managed to breach past the Rs 30 crores mark, we can expect other Telugu biggies to queue up for release in the next few weeks.
