It has been more than a week since the severe rains that has devastated people's lives in Chennai were stopped but still power supply is yet to be resumed in quite a few places in the city. Actor Kamal Haasan's house located at the Eldams road corner in Alwarpet and places surrounding this area reel under the darkness without electricity till yesterday.
Residents of the area where Kamal was residing heaved a sigh of relief as power supply was finally restored. Now it is being rumoured that Kamal is being targeted for criticizing the government and that's why power supply was suspended to his home and office.
The denial of power for so many days was seen as a way to harass the actor for his alleged comments on government. However, a senior official of the Tamil Nadu electricity department denied these theories and says Cable fault was the reason behind power outage on Eldams Road.
Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, which is responsible for generation and supply of electricity has come up with a clarification and refutes the claim that Kamal was being targeted.Earlier there were reports about Kamal interview to a national website about government failure on handling the situation.
Responding to these comments, ex CM and current Public Works Department Minister Paneerselvam sent a statement in which he urged Kamal to watch his own film, 'Anbe Sivam' again to understand the magnitude of a 'natural disaster.'
Later Kamal Haasan has given a clarification of his criticism of Jayalalithaa's government over the handling of the flood situation. In a press release, Kamal Haasan has said he never criticised the Tamil Nadu government
