SS Rajamouli has taken a huge risk with Baahubali and it paid off at Global level. But for two films, he took 6 years in total to shoot and release them.
Now, for RRR - his next, he promised a lesser gap between the shoot start date and release time during the announcement but the movie got postponed to January 8th 2021 from 30th July, 2020.
It might look as normal delay for a Rajamouli film but two big stars like NTR and Ram Charan, won't be doing another film until this one finishes or releases.
That means all production houses and directors who are planning movies with them, will have to wait that long. It also means that increase in interest rates for DVV Danayya, who now has to bear the brunt of extra production cost on top of the interest amounts.
Movie budget has gone up from 350 to 425 crores say sources and distributors are worried that the rates will be higher for them to purchase and then recovery will be tough.
Fans are unhappy that their heroes will have to take a 2 year gap between releases for one film that too, where they will have to share the screen space. At a time when even 20 mins or 30 mins of their absence from total film is seen as "less screen presence" from their favourite stars by fans, this seems a bit of stretch for them.
In the long run, movie might be one of those biggest successes like Magadheera and Baahubali but Industry wants Rajamouli also to plan his movies even better rather than asking others to just wait for him, which they are glad to do now though!
