After the initial lockdown last year, things looked encouraging from January. People flocked into theatres and films like 'Krack', 'Uppena' and 'Jathiratnalu' did exceptionally well. No one estimated that the second wave could strike so hard and they even announced the release dates for the entire year to avoid a collision.
The second wave forced the film industry to put everything on hold for the past three months. The theatres were closed due to the lockdown and people are eager to know when the big screens get opened again. With the lockdown entirely lifted in Telangana, the audience hoped to screen films from July but it may not happen.
The permissions were not given in Andhra Pradesh still and the filmmakers are waiting for both the Telugu states to get back to their regular selves. Most of the films will be released from August as per the trade sources and big films may arrive from September. The new release dates are yet to be announced and we need to wait and see what happens in the coming few weeks.
