Ghaziabad police recover 170 kg silver, arrest four

The Ghaziabad police have recovered 170 kg of silver valued at over Rs.1.05 crore and arrested four robbers who looted it from a jeweller Oct 3 in Loni.

SSP Ghaziabad Dharmendra Yadav told presspersons the Loni police succeeded in recovering the silver and arresting the robbers following a tip-off.

The victim jeweller announced a reward of Rs.51,000 for the police team at the press conference.

The SSP said the police Nov 5 arrested two suspected robbers who confessed to having robbed the jeweller near Pachera village on the outskirts of Loni.

The police recovered 35 kg silver, the victim's mobile phone and his Volkswagen car. The robbers disclosed their identities as Monu alias Gullu and Deepak, both residents of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.

Police continued its work and finally succeeded in nabbing two other accomplices who confessed to their crime and helped the police recover the remaining silver from their hiding place in an agricultural field. This time, the stock weighed 135 kilogram.

This time's arrested robbers were Ankit from Baghpat and Shahzad of Saharanpur. Another accomplice, Arun alias Bandar of Baghpat, is still at large.

The absconding robber has over a dozen criminal cases registered against him in different police stations of Ghaziabad and Baghpat, added the SSP.

The police have recovered two pistols, two motorcycles and a gold chain valued over a lakh rupees in addition to the recovered articles of car and silver looted from the jeweller.

Oct 3, unidentified armed robbers looted cash and jewellery valued over Rs.1.05 crore from an Agra-based jeweller at Loni. The incident occurred on Alipur Pushta road leading to Tronica city under Loni police station of Ghaziabad.

The police claimed jeweller Vijay Kumar Gupta of Agra left his home town Thursday (Oct 3). After completing his marketing in Delhi, he was proceededing to Meerut via Baghpat where he was robbed.
