Gopichand's Cryptic Comment About Tuck Jagadish's OTT release

Update: 2021-09-08 11:40 GMT
For those who don't already know, Nani's Tuck Jagadish is premiering on Amazon Prime Video at 10 PM tomorrow, September 9. The makers have announced that team Tuck Jagadish will hold a virtual meet event to publicize the arrival of the film on Amazon Prime Video. Tuck Jagadish is one of the biggest OTT releases of the year from Tollywood. Amazon Prime had paid a whopping price for the OTT rights of the Nani, Ritu Varma, and Aishwarya Rajesh, and Jagapathi Babu starrer.

Now, Gopichand, who recently took part in a promotional interview for his upcoming theatrical outing, Seetimaarr dropped a cryptic comment about the OTT release prospect. In a way, he supported the OTT model and came up with a fitting reason to justify his claim.

"Theatrical release is always the priority of any producer. Every producer wants to release their films in theaters. But these are unprecedented times. The theatrical industry has taken a beating. Producers can't hold back on the release any further. For instance, a producer takes loans from various sources before starting a film. They plan to complete the shooting in six to seven months and release the film in theatres and then repay the loans by selling the rights of the films. But this modus operandi took a steep turn after the onset of the Covid pandemic. Theatres remained shut for a long period of time. This in turn added more pressure on the producers who couldn't release their films in the last year or so. At this time, OTT emerged as the savior for many producers. There is nothing wrong with releasing films on OTT.  In fact, OTT releases offer a way out to producers who have been struggling financially due to Covid," he said.

Gopichand didn't take out Tuck Jagadish's name but he spoke about the OTT release prospect in general. Given the fact that Tuck Jagadish is immediate next OTT release, Gopichand's comments are being attributed to the Nani starrer and understandably so. Coming to Gopichand's Seetimaarr, the sports drama is set in action backdrop. The film is directed by Sampath Nandi and it has Tamannaah in the female lead roles. The film is releasing on the 10th of September.
