Update: 2016-07-09 10:10 GMT

Hero Aditya Om on Saturday launched hunger strike along with the other unit members of the feature film 'Friend Request' protesting denial of sufficient theatres.

'Friend Request' Unit Members complain: 'We planned the release in 150 screens all over AP and Telangana. In Nizam. Srinivas of Bindu Pictures promised to release the movie in 30 theatres. However, The film was released in just one theatre and that too for just two shows. We are informed about the unavailability of the theatres in the last minute. We demand Telugu Film Chamber to implement the Maharashtra model which guarantees certain number of screens for regional films'.

'Friend Request' marks Aditya Om's directorial debut. Apart from Aditya Om, Co-Producer Vijay Varma and Unit Members dared to continue the fight until justice was done. Bharat Akta National Convenor Mallu Ramesh, Producer Thummalapalli Ramasatyanarayana, K Suresh Babu and Mohan Goud extended their support to 'Friends Request' Unit.

Film Chamber EC Member Ashok Kumar and General Secretary Damodhar Prasad promised to resolve the issue as early as possible.
