The award, in the category of 15 million passengers per annum, was presented recently to GHIAL at a ceremony held during the 10th Annual CAPA aviation awards for excellence at Amsterdam.

The selection criteria for the awards included demonstration of a comprehensive and multi-faceted route development strategy and the overall success of the marketing effort in adding air services and attracting new airlines, a GHIAL statement said here Wednesday.

"We are delighted to be recognized by CAPA, a leading provider of independent aviation market research, analysis and data services organization. Winning this award demonstrates our commitment in building more connections and attracting airlines to Hyderabad, benefiting passengers in this region," said GHIAL CEO S.G.K. Kishore.

After successfully building a world class airport, GHIAL has focused on increasing connectivity from Hyderabad, positioning it as a gateway to south and central India.
