Maestro Bestowed With Padma Vibhushan

Ilayaraja adds another feather to his cap. Yes, The Maestro is being chosen for the prestigious Padma Vibhushan honour for his invaluable services to the Indian Cinema.

No other Composer could be having such a glorious track record. In a career spanning over four decades, He scored Music for over 1,000 feature films. Altogether, 6,500 to 7,000 songs have been composed by him so far. He bagged five National Awards.

In 2010, Ilayaraja was conferred with Padma Bhushan. Almost 7 years later, He gets country's 2nd Highest Civilian Honour. What a proud moment this has been for his family and fans!

It was his Mentor Dhanraj Master who gave Ilayaraja the name 'Raja'. He added 'ilaaya' as a prefix to avoid confusion with composer M.Rajah.
