Troubles for Trisha continue from IT Dept

Income Tax Department moved a petition against Actress Trisha in the Madras High Court for alleged non-payment of tax in a calendar year.

IT Department alleges Trisha hasn't furnished the amount she received as advance for signing few films in the financial year 2010-11. A fine of Rs 1.11 crore was imposed on the Actress by the Assessment Officer under Section 271(1)© of the IT Act. Subsequently, Trisha challenged the hefty fine before the Commissioner of IT Appeals and obtained the cancellation. Even the Appellate Tribunal confirmed the order passed by Commissioner of IT Appeals.

Following which, IT Department approached Madras High Court seeking cancellation of Appellate Tribunal order. The bench comprising of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sunder accepted the petition and posted the next hearing of the case to June 13th.
