Was Rs 1000 Crore Mahabharat Shelved?

Bollywood Bigwigs have been determined to make movies that can overshadow 'Baahubali'. Trade Analysts like Taran Adarsh had openly asked the Hindi Film Industry to learn from the marketing strategy followed by the makers of the war drama.

Aamir Khan is someone who is always willing to experiment. He not only commands solid market across North India but also reached out to people in China & Japan with films like 'PK' and 'Dangal'. There is excitement among public when Aamir expressed his desire to make 3D Version of Mahabharat in five parts with a Rs 1,000 crore budget. People were dying to see the Mahabharat War in 3D since then.

However, The focus of Aamir Khan has been only on 'Thugs Of Hindustan' in the past two years. Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh essay key roles in this biggie. And now, Mr.Perfectionist is busy with the biopic of Gulshan Kumar. Whether Aamir shelved 'Mahabharat 3D' completely? If that is true, Why did he launch the project grandly with Anil Ambani of Reliance Industries and promised to devote the next 10 years for it?

TV Series 'Ramayan' directed by Ramanand Sagar in 1986 and 'Mahabharat' directed by BR Chopra in 1988 had thoroughly entertained public. It's a shame that none of Actors & Directors attempted to make these Epics on par with Hollywood standards till date. Though film personalities like Aamir Khan, Rajamouli, Mohan Lal and Allu Aravind have such plans, Too much time has been taken to materialize those magnum opus. That's what Movie Buffs find very disappointing!
