Tamil star hero who has a good market in the Telugu states too is arriving with a film each month lately. He released 'Viruam' in August and arrived with the magnum opus 'PS â 1'. Now, he is ready with 'Sardar' which is a spy thriller. It is hitting the screens on the 21st of October and there are good expectations on this movie. As a part of promotions, the film's director PS Mithran who made movies like 'Shakti' with Siva Karthikeyan and 'Abhimanyudu' with Vishal in the past has spoken to the media and gave some interesting snippets about 'Sardar'.
Mithran said that he got this idea during the time of 'Abhimanyudu' and developed it later with the help of his writers. After impressing producer Laxman, he reportedly narrated the film to Karthi who gave his nod immediately. He claims that the story is based on a real incident but they added a few fictional elements in order to make it more appealing to the audience. He added, "This story takes place in the 1980s as well as in the present day. In 1980, Indian intelligence looked for a soldier to make him a spy. But it wasn't an easy thing to do. Actually, it's an obligation for a spy to know how to act and disguise. So, a stage actor was turned into a spy."
Karthi will be seen as both father and son in this movie and he states that one character is a spy who hides his identity from everyone while the other character craves for attention and publicity. Mithran praises Karthi saying that he is the best actor he worked with till date and is confident that 'Sardar' continues Karthi's success streak. He also added that Karthi shared a lot of ideas that benefitted the film.
Talking about Nagarjuna who is releasing the movie in Telugu, PS Mithran said, "Annapurna Studios is my favorite production house. Nagarjuna's hospitality is amazing. He shares a good relationship with Karthi. Together, they worked in a wonderful movie like Oopiri. I'm happy that Annapurna Studios' is releasing Sardar in Telugu. I'm willing to do a film with Akhil. But, as of now, my focus is on the release of Sardar."
