Amazon Prime series, Paatal Lok has been in the news over a couple of days completely filled with appreciations Anushka Sharma over choosing a good story for making a series. Even her husband, Virat lauded after watching the show.
However, this web series is landed in legal trouble now. Viren Sri Gurung, a member of the Lawyers Guild has sent a legal notice to Anushka Sharma for a perceived casteist slur on the show.
"There is a clip wherein during an interrogation a lady police officer uses a casteist slur on a Nepali character. There wouldn't have been any problem had only 'Nepali' been used. But the word that follows it is unacceptable. Since Anushka Sharma is one of the producers of the show, we have served her a notice", Gurung said.
He also said that he is yet to receive a response from Anushka and that he will take the matter up with the OTT platform next.
The Gorkha community expresses strong opposition on Paatal Lok and wants to remove that word for the series. They filed an online petition with the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Monday regarding the same.
