Legendary Telugu Actor Dies on his Birthday

The Tollywood film industry is mourning the death of a legendary actor who is a filmmaker too. The 92-year-old actor had worked with the first-generation Superstar like Chittoor V. Nagaiah, next generations NTR- ANR, and the coming generations too. Sadly, the veteran actor breathed his last on his birthday.

Legendary actor Mannava Balayya who turned 92 today passed away at his residence in Hyderabad. He has been suffering from age-related issues for quite some time. His family members shared the news with the media. The Tollywood fraternity is mourning the death of the veteran actor.

Balayya's acting career started with Ethuku Pai Ethu. In his glorious career that had lasted for around four decades, he had acted in more than 300 films across the industries. He has acted with celebrated celebrities like Chittor V. Nagaiah, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Superstar Krishna, Krishnam Raju, Sobhan Babu. He acted with Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, and Balakrishna too.

The actor had made films as a producer and director too under his Amrutha films banner, which was founded in 1970. He is a successful writer too, who has critically acclaimed films like Chelleli Kapuram, Neramu Siksha, Annadammula Katha, and others.

He had donned the director's hat for the last time in 1994 with the hit film ‘Police Alludu'. Starring Superstar Krishna in the lead role the film traces the heroics of an ACP who locks horns with a family that is into wrongdoings.

Balayya tried to continue his legacy in the industry by launching his son Tulsi Ram Prasad as a hero. However, he could not succeed as an actor and managed to do only two films as a lead actor. With both films bombing at the box office he could not get more films.

Looking at his background, Balayya was born on 9th April 1930 in combined Andhra Pradesh. He hails from the Guntur district. He was an engineering graduate from Chennai's Guindy Engineering College. After he was drawn towards the drama while he was pursuing his studies, he made it to the films and excelled as an actor, director, and producer.
