There is no way that we can imagine our lives without cell phones nowadays. It has become a necessity just like air, water and food. Our lives come to a halt when the phone stops working. We all know how phones are connected to the youth as it is used in every part of their lives. There is an unknown side to every person and only our phones know about him/her other than our hearts. What happens when such a personal thing goes into the hands of another person? What happens when that person turns out to be your life partner? Showcasing the result in a highly entertaining manner and pulling the emotional strings at the end is what 'Love Today' is all about. This movie connects to all sections of the audience and it is the biggest asset. The younger audience cannot sit in their seats throughout this film as it leaves you in splits a lot of times and makes you think in the last 30 minutes as well.
Though it is a Tamil film, the concept is universal and it connects with each and every person. Looking at the posters of 'Love Today', one might think that the lead actor is not a hero at all but you are completely wrong! People who enter the theatre with doubts about Pradeep will walk out of theatres as a fan of his work. Pradeep Ranganathan is a completely new name for the Telugu audience. He is not just the hero but also the writer and director of this movie. He even penned the dialogues and song lyrics in Tamil. The way he presented this concept makes you wonder about the last time we laughed like this. There are numerous scenes where you wholeheartedly laugh. They are not completely new or unique but very simple and relatable.
Though the movie starts off on a regular note, it gets interesting when heroine's father enters the scene. First the heroine gets caught and hero attacks her and it is the turn of heroine later to counter attack him after finding his secrets. These episodes are very hilarious. Youth audience get connected to this movie instantly and 'Love Today' impresses you very much. But this film wouldn't have become special if it is fun-filled till the end. The serious turn in the last hour makes the audience interested in this movie. The makers get you completely involved in the story and it where 'Love Story' turns into a complete film. Pradeep showcased the other side of mobile technology and warned the youngsters. The track involving hero's sister is impressive and Yogi Babu's character touches your heart. The major highlight of this movie is the explanation of 'belief' in human relationships. Entertainment and emotion worked out pretty well in 'Love Today' which makes it a perfect watch for the youth as well as the others.
Performances:
As said before, people who were skeptical about Pradeep Ranganathan end up becoming his fans by the end of this film. He may be the reason why Dil Raju decided to dub this film instead of remaking it with Telugu actors. You get a feeling that no one could have played this role better than him. He is an average-looking guy but he impresses big time with his impeccable performance. Heroine Ivana did a great job too. She did extremely well in the scenes where she finds out about the secrets of the hero.
Seniors like Satyaraj and Radhika Sarathkumar showcased their expertise while Yogi Babu entertained the audience in his typical style. His acting at the end is heart touching and Raveena Ravi as the hero's sister did a good job.
Technicians:
Yuvan Shankar Raja gave trendy music for this movie. His background scores are quite fresh and energetic too. He elevated a lot of comedy scenes with his BGM. He composed one song in a funny manner. The camera work is quite good and natural. The production values are adequate and the Telugu dubbing is very well done.
We get amused by the talent of Pradeep Ranganathan. His writing and direction are just wonderful and his sense of humor is just astonishing. While the idea is funny, it is very tough to make a full-length movie about it. Pradeep showcased his talent by penning a super entertaining and touching screenplay. He is a talent to watch out for in the future.
Verdict: 'Love Today' â Full Kick For The Youth
