Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi is facing wrath on social media for essaying the role of legendary Sri Lanka spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan in his biopic. Ever since the motion poster of '800' was launched, netizens trended #ShameOnVijaySethupati hashtag to convey their anger and disappointment.
Lyricist Thamarai penned an open letter to the actor requesting Vijay Sethupathi to reconsider his decision of acting in the biopic of Muttiah Muralitharan.
In her letter, Thamarai wrote, "Muralitharan became a Sinhalese politician. He became the loudspeaker to Rajapakse who was killing Tamils by the dozen."
She further added, "The facial features of a great actor like you match better with another person, LTTE's chief (Velupillai Prabhakaran). Take on that role and act. The day when leader Prabhakaran's life becomes a biopic isn't far. I have published the still. Stand in front of the mirror and begin your preparation."
