Mahabharata my dream project says Dasari

Veteran Telugu director Dasari Narayana Rao, who recently announced six Telugu projects, says that his "Mahabharata" dream project is among them and that he wants to take the epic to global audiences.

"I have begun working on one of the six projects announced last month. As soon as I complete work on the political satire 'Vaddikasulavada', I will most likely begin work on my dream project. I completed the script two years back," Dasari, who has so far worked in 150 movies, told IANS.

"It has been a long pending project and I'm glad I will start working on it soon. I intend to make it in several languages, which I will decide soon. I will also dub it in English because I feel a film about our Indian epic should go beyond national boundaries," he added.

Known for highly successful Telugu films such as "Meghasandesam", "Mestri", "Kante Kuthurne Kanu", Rao has also directed Hindi films such as "Jyoti Bane Jwala" and "Pyaasa Sawan".

He admits "Mahabharata" will be a time consuming project, but worth the effort.

"It will definitely take time, but I believe spending time on something very dear to your heart is worth every minute spent on it," he said.

How will you distribute time among six projects?

"Most projects take time to take off, but once started, they chase a deadline and, therefore, it wouldn't be an issue," he said.

He intends to work on one project at a time "because I also have couple of films to be made with other actors. I want them to finish all pending projects, before I start work with them," Dasari added.

"Vaddikasulavada" is the director's 151st film, which he is also producing and acting in. The story revolves around the peon who works in a chief minister's office.
