Legendary actress Savitri's biopic 'Mahanati' is slated for the release on May 9 i.e., on Wednesday. The premiers will be screened much early in the overseas. On the other hand 'Mahanati' Tamil version 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam' will be hitting the screens a two days later as per the latest update.
The movie is carrying good buzz in Tamil because Savitri was a popular heroine in Tamil Nadu and she acted with all the top stars when her career was at the peak. While we refer her as 'Mahanati', they fondly address her as 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam'. So, the makers have come up with the same title for Tamil version of the film. Tamilians treat Savitri as their own actress because she settled down in Chennai and she didn't relocate to Hyderabad when Telugu film industry was shifted to Hyderabad from Chennai.
Apart from these things, the majority of the lead actors in 'Mahanati' are popular in Tamil. Keerthy Suresh, Samantha, Dulquer Salmaan, Prakash Raj are popular. We have to wait and see how Nag Ashwin is going to impress the Tamil audience with his 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam'.
