Maharshi Ticket Price Issue: HC Stuns Theatre Owners!

Telangana Government hasn't responded positively to the appeals of 'Maharshi' Buyers over increase of ticket prices. As a result, Cinema Theatre Managements moved the High Court seeking directions to TRS Government in favour of ticket price hike.

Managements of INOX, GVK, PVR and Cinemax sought the intervention of High Court for Maharshi Ticket Price Hike after the TRS Government threatened action. Petitioners Counsel informed the High Court that TRS Government isn't implementing the recommendations 7-member committee constituted over ticket price issue.

Interim Chief Justice RS Chauhan dismissed the petition of the Cinema Theatre Managements on grounds that State Government has got every right the protect the rights of Consumers. While stating Cinema Theatre Managements will have to abide by State Cinema (Regulation) Act, Licensing Authority and City Police Commission are directed to take a decision on the appeal made by Theatre Owners by May 16th.

Theatrical Business of 'Maharshi' is valued at Rs 100 crore. Distributors and Exhibitors are worried about the losses they had to incur if price hike wasn't allowed because of the huge money at stake.
