First Muslim Actor to win an Oscar ever

Mahershala Ali scripted history by being the First Muslim Actor to win an Academy Award. He secured an Oscar Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for essaying the role of Juan in 'Moonlight'.

During his acceptance speech, Mahershala Ali said: 'I want to thank my teachers, my professors and so many wonderful teachers. This moment wasn't about me, it's about these characters…You are just a servant, You are in service to these stories and characters. I am so blessed to have had an opportunity. It was about Juan, it was about Paula. Cast & Crew, such a wonderful experience'.

'Moonlight' has bagged three Oscar Awards (Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor).

Interestingly, Even Best Supporting Actress award was won by a Black, Viola Davis for the feature film 'Fences.
