Mahesh Babu Rejects, Thalapthy Vijay Happily Accepts

Update: 2021-09-22 02:37 GMT
Mahesh Babu and Vamshi Paidipally who previously collaborated for national award-winning social drama Maharshi were scheduled to collaborate for another film. However, Mahesh Babu turned down any advancements regarding the project as he did not like the story narrated by Vamshi Paidipally. After a couple of failed attempts, Vamshi Paidipally couldn't come up with a winning story that could impress Mahesh. So, Mahesh moved on with other commitments and he took other projects onto the floors.

Interestingly enough, Vamshi Paidipally took the story he had penned for Mahesh and narrated it to Vijay. He obviously made some cosmetic changes to the script to suit the sensibilities of other language audiences and also redesigned the protagonist's characterization to suit Vijay's image. Incidentally, Vijay absolutely loved the script narrated by Vamshi Paidipally and readily obliged to come on board for the project. Despite knowing Mahesh rejected the script, Vijay accepted the project as he liked the essence of the story and also the theme of the film.

So, the story rejected by Mahesh Babu made its way to Vijay and the latter happily accepted the same. Vamshi Paidipally has locked the final draft already and the project is likely to be announced this Dussehra. Dil Raju will be bankrolling the project and he has allocated a massive budget for the Vijay starrer. As per reports, Vijay is pocketing a whopping remuneration of Rs 100 crores for signing the project. This makes him one of the highest paid stars in Indian cinema. Given Vijay's humongous following in Tamil Nadu and also his growing popularity in the Telugu states, Dil Raju readily paid him the big fat paycheque.

This project is tentatively titled Thalapathy66 and it will be Vijay's immediate next project after his ongoing one, Beast. Vijay will soon be allocating his dates for the Vamshi Paidipally directorial. This bilingual will be mounted on a big scale and the filming is expected to commence early next year. The film will feature several top actors from other languages in the lead roles. More details about the cast and crew will be out once the project is officially announced.
