Once in a while, Prakash Raj wields the megaphone to narrate out-of-the-box subjects which were close to his heart. Even after failures like 'Dhoni' & 'Ulavacharu Biryani', 'Mana Oori Ramayanam' is being made by him with lots of passion. What kind of experience does this new attempt would offer?
Synopsis:
Bhujangaiah (Prakash Raj) is someone who commands a lot of respect from the people in his native place. After a clash with family members, Bhujangaiah leaves home, gets drunk and wishes to spend the night with a woman. He uses Siva (Satyadev) who is more like his Assistant for this task. Siva hires a prostitute Susheela (Priyamani) and locks her in the shop with Bhujangaiah. Unfortunately, Cops take Siva into custody regarding an issue. How did Bhujangaiah come out of the shop and what change did this incident bring in him forms the rest of the tale..!
Performances:
Clap-worthy Performances are the major asset of 'Mana Oori Ramayanam'. Prakash Raj yet again shows his caliber as an actor. Having very few dialogues, He conveys a lot through his facial expressions. Priyamani comes up with an award-winning performance and she will always be proud of this role. Even the new look suit her to the T.
Pruthvi is very impressive in a serious character. Satyadev does a fine job. Nothing much to say about rest of the cast.

Technicalities:
'Mana Oori Ramayanam' is technically sound. Background Score by Ilayaraja is mind blowing. Camera Work by Mukesh is top notch. Art Work is too good. Dialogues were situational. The film was shot with a shoestring budget. Presentation of festival celebrations in a small town is impressive. Though its a Remake, Prakash Raj left a mark of his own and audience could see his passion for craft here. However, Screenplay could have been more gripping and fast-paced.
Analysis:
Prakash Raj is very particular about picking up unconventional subjects whenever he wears the Director's hat. He tries to convey something to the people through his films instead of inclusion of regular commercial elements. 'Mana Oori Ramayanam' is very special in its own way. One needs to have good taste, a bit of patience and a big heart to understand the undercurrent message and appreciate it.
'Mana Oori Ramayanam' is undoubtedly a good film and leaves a good impact on the viewers. But, How many people are willing to throng theaters for such unconventional movies is a million dollar question! The end result could have been much better if Prakash Raj has consciously worked on increasing its reach. Limited Cast & Shooting most of the film in a single location gives a feeling of watching an Art film.
Repetitive Scenes are the biggest drawback of 'Mana Oori Ramayanam'. They test the patience of the viewer and spoils their mood to some extent. Though the run time is just 1 hour and 52 minutes, Audience get the feeling of watching a lengthy film. Lethargic Pace, Illogical Scenes and Lack of gripping narration is a big concern.
The sequence depicting the realization in Prakash Raj is being executed well. Even the Twist behind unlocking is quite nice. Climax is the biggest asset of the movie. The emotional ending gives a feeling of watching a great film and it earns a lot of respect for Prakash Raj.
