Actor Manchu Manoj even though entered the industry as a son of Mohan Babu, established his recognition by doing various kinds of roles. Now he is coming with the Okkadu Migiladu in which he is playing the role of a Srilankan leader. He said that he gained 20 kgs of weight for that character and lost ten kgs for another film.

"The role of Srilankan leader needs to look bulky, and I had to gain 20kgs for that. But after shooting I have to shoot another film Gunturodu, and I lost around 10 kgs to play the role of a student union leader in that one, " said Manoj. The movie is going to get released in both Telugu as Okkadu Migiladu and Tamil as Naan Thirimba Varuven.

The movie has both 1990 and 2017 backdrops. "We shot the scenes set in the 1990s during the tensions in Ceylon as realistically as possible. The film depicts an untold true story which includes so many emotions. The story focuses on the lives of Eelam Tamils who died tragically during the war" said Manoj.

When asked if the role is based on the late LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, he claimed that they hadn't used any names in the film and he is proud to accept and portray such an intense role. He stated that the screenplay would be one of the outstanding elements in the movie.
