Star filmmaker Mani Ratnam has been booked in a police case after a mishap on the sets of his ongoing project, Ponniyin Selvan.

Going into the story, the makers of Ponniyin Selvan were shooting an important sequence in the film at a specially erected set in Hyderabad. A fleet of horses was booked for shooting an important scene in the film.

While shooting, one of the horses collapsed and died. Consequently, PETA has filed a police complaint against Mani Ratnam, Madras Talkies, and the owner of the horse for abetting its death.

PETA stated that the movie unit continued to shoot with the horse even after knowing that it was completely dehydrated and thus, abetted its death. The police have booked the case on Mani Ratnam and further investigation is due now. The police booked the case under section 429 of the PCA act, 1960 Section 11 and 1860 of the IPC.
